Changing the video decoder or video rendering

If the picture is black, green, frozen or noisy on a single device, a player setting may fix it. It depends on the device.

Steps

  1. Apple TV — Apple TV, Mac and Windows: Settings › Player › Video Decoder.
  2. Windows — Windows: Settings › Player › Video rendering. Choose "Processor" if the picture is noisy, black or frozen on an older PC (limited to 1080p).
  3. Android TV / Google TV — Android and Android TV: Settings › Player › Tunneled playback. It turns itself off automatically on incompatible devices.
  4. Restart the video to apply the change.

If the same content fails on all your devices, the problem comes from the stream and not from the player: run the playlist diagnostic instead.
