A QR code moves typing to the phone: the TV displays a reference, the phone opens the secure DringTV page, and the details are sent to the right device after confirmation. The QR cannot read account data, but it must still be treated as private setup information.
Key points
- Confirm that the browser opens dringtv.com over HTTPS.
- Do not photograph or publish the QR code or device reference.
- A device reference can send or update a playlist, never read the account.
- A preconfigured link carries sensitive details and belongs only with its authorised recipient.
Two paths for two jobs
| Path | Starting point | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Device reference | The TV displays a QR code and short code | Send a configuration from dringtv.com/qr to that TV |
| Preconfigured link | A private link already contains the parameters | Open in the app or send to a TV after checking |
Start on the television
- In DringTV, open Add playlist and select the QR card.
- Scan the QR code with the phone camera.
- Confirm the dringtv.com domain and HTTPS lock before typing.
- Choose M3U, Xtream Codes or Stalker/Ministra according to the details officially supplied.
- Check the name and destination device, then confirm.
- Return to the TV and let synchronisation finish.
Simple security rules
- Use your own phone or a trusted device.
- Never type credentials into a lookalike domain.
- Do not send screenshots containing URLs, usernames, passwords, MACs or device references.
- Regenerate a device reference if it was exposed.
- Remove preconfigured links from shared chats and notes when no longer needed.
What the reference can actually do
The reference behaves like a drop box: it can receive a configuration but cannot display playlists, history or credentials already stored in the account. Creating a new reference invalidates the previous one.
That restriction reduces exposure without making the reference public. Someone who knows it could still try to send an unwanted configuration.
If the setup does not arrive
- Check that the displayed code was not regenerated between scan and send.
- Keep the QR screen open during setup.
- Check internet access on both phone and TV.
- Restart DringTV so a pending configuration can be collected.
- If it still fails, create a new reference and retry without sharing private data.
Common questions
Must the phone and TV use the same Wi-Fi?
Not necessarily for a DringTV device reference because delivery uses the secure service. Chromecast normally does require the same local network.
What if my QR appears in a public photo?
Regenerate the reference immediately in DringTV. The old one will stop working.
